Case Study - Trafford CYPS
http://www.cyps.org.ukWhat they wanted
Trafford Children and Young People’s Service decided they needed a clearer and cleaner image for their website, with more scope for information and news to be displayed on the homepage. They hoped to achieve greater access to the web and provide a web site site that was more engaging and appealing to all stakeholders. They also decided to do an online voting system for their Youth Parliament in order to engage more children and young people in Trafford in the democratic process.
What we did
We worked with Trafford Councils creative design agency to design a new web site look and feel. It needed to match their new branding but also fit within the constraints of a content managed web site, this was an especially important consideration due to the exceedingly tight budget. The wonderful Bricolage content management system was used to manage and publish all the web content as well as provide a contributor workflow within the council. The workflow streamlined the process for contributing content, editing it, performing legal checks and for publishing. All the elements within the new web site are managed by Bricolage; menus, featured articles, external links as well as stories. Adding or changing content also automatically publishes any dependencies. The entire web site was implemented in two weeks.
In a separate project, we implemented an online voting system for the Trafford UK Youth Parliament elections, run by Trafford CYPS. The voting application is accessed by young people via the new CYPS web site, usually via their school.
Benefits to the client
“Axon Birch have been managing and designing our website for the past few years and we have built up an excellent working relationship. Axon Birch understands our needs as a Children & Young People’s Service very well and communication has always been excellent with all members of the team. Our participation in the UK Youth Parliament is above the national average because of the ease of access to all young people via the internet and the low running costs to administer the election.”
