Julie Finch is featured in the Stockport Express

Julie Finch President of Stockport Local Chamber Council

Julie was delighted to feature in her first column as President of Stockport Local Chamber Council (LCC).

One of her key objectives, along with the members of the LCC, is to ensure that issues raised by Stockport members and fellow businesses are taken up by Greater Manchester Chamber. It is also important that the voice of business is represented within our Local Authority; Stockport Economic Alliance; Stockport College and key Stockport Partnerships.

As managing director of Cheadle Hulme business, Axon Birch Limited, Julie is determined to ensure that all businesses in the borough are represented, as well as those based in Stockport town centre. She is passionate about encouraging existing Chamber members to benefit fully from their membership and to supporting growth of membership in our region.

In her column Julie covered the following topics:

- Feedback from the Chamber on key issues that affect our business community, such as the TIF Bid (Transport Innovation Fund); SEMMS bypass and Skills + Learning.

- The importance of Networking.

- Stockport Breakfast Club, which is held every month and is regularly attended by over 60 businesses. This month there were speakers from Cheadle and Marple College and the UK Career Academy Foundation. The presentation was well received and several other Stockport businesses have decided to get involved.

- Business Growth Forums are another popular regular event. This month’s forum is on the subject of ‘How to be the Best at Following up Sales Leads’ and takes place at Stockport College Business Centre.

This year marks the 100th birthday of Stockport Town Hall. In recognition of this milestone, the Chamber is delighted to hold its Annual Dinner in the Town Hall on July 4th.
